A straight answer before you spend on solar

Independent energy advice for Western North Carolina homeowners, done remotely by video call, photos and your utility bills. I review solar and battery quotes, find where your energy goes, and help you plan for the next long outage. I don't sell equipment, so the advice is just advice.

No commissions, ever. I'm paid by you, not by installers or equipment makers. All work is remote, so there's no trip charge.

Services and prices

Flat prices, agreed before I start. Everything happens by video call, email and photos you take on your phone. Every paid service ends with a written report you keep, whether or not you buy anything afterward.

How it works

Most projects take one to two weeks from first call to finished report.

  1. Get started

Fill out a 5-minute form, then we have a free 20-minute video call about your home and goals.

  2. Send and show

Email your quotes and bills, then walk me through your home on a video call.

  3. Report

A plain-language written report with numbers you can check.

  4. You decide

Take the report to any installer, or do nothing at all. Your call.

Installers sell systems. I don't.

Most homeowners only hear about solar from the people selling it. Some of those quotes are great. Some are oversized, overpriced, or built on incentives that no longer exist; the 30% federal tax credit for home solar ended at the start of 2026, and plenty of sales pitches haven't caught up.

Mountain homes add their own questions: shaded ridges, steep roofs, long outages after storms. I help you sort out what makes sense for your house before you sign anything. If your home needs hands-on testing, I'll tell you and point you to a qualified local pro.
